TED JUNGBLUT KARATE RESUME

By Charles Rhodes, P. Eng., Ph.D.

INTRODUCTION:
I was privileged to train in karate with Ted Jungblut at the Tsuruoka Headquarters Club in Toronto at Yonge & Bloor, at Dupont & Spadina and at Avenue Road & Davenport continuously from early 1969 to mid 1976 and intermittantly thereafter. During the 1970s Ted was in a karate performance class of his own in Canada.

This web page attempts to summarize Ted's karate achievements. The detail on this web page is primarily derived from Ted's karate resume which in turn is based on his medal collection. However, important details not shown on Ted's resume, but clear in my own memory, are that in 1970 Ted was the CNE Black Belt Kumite Champion and during the period 1970 to 1975 inclusive Ted competed every year at the CNE and never placed less than second (silver). During those early years the CNE was a major karate tournament and results from the CNE were significant in selection of the Ontario and Canadian national karate teams.
